Trailhead of the Caretaker Trail
Photo: G. Osinski, University of Western Ontario Location: Along the trail on the northern rim of the crater
Scale: Height of the old museum is approximately 4-5 meters
We’ve now arrived at the top of the Caretaker Trail, which we will take down to reach the crater floor. The ruins on the right of the photo housed the original museum at Barringer Crater, until it burnt down in the 1950’s. It is also from here that Daniel Barringer conducted most of his early investigations of the crater.
