Dr. Sam Bell's research interests focus on method development, impactor sources, chronology and crater counting, seismology, planetary geophysics, and icy bodies. He is currently working on improving the methodology of crater counting chronology methods to reduce and better quantify sources of error. The ramifications range from assessing the risk that impacts pose to Earth to untangling the history of the solar system. He also works on outer solar system impactor sources and dynamics. He has worked on machine learning models in the past, and he is interested in applying them to planetary contexts.
