My research focuses on the interactions between life and the environment. I am particularly interested in parsing how biological and abiotic factors influence the environment and distinguishing these factors from each other. My research interests span questions that pertain to environmental science and astrobiology. I am also interested in the thermodynamic controls on biological metabolism and how thermodynamics influenced the origin of life and shapes life on exoplanets. I am currently based out of Wisconsin.
