Storrs (Department of Physics, Astronomy & Geosciences, Towson University & Steward Observatory, University of Arizona)

Reanalysis of HST images of the inner satellites of Neptune shows no anomalous reddening of Triton (as had been reported by Pascu et al. 1998 (BAAS 30, 1101). These observations from early July 1997 are in contrast to the reddening reported by Hicks and Buratti (Icarus 171, 210) in August and so limit the "rise time" of these event to only a few weeks. Other observations limit the decay time to a similar duration.
