Project Description

PSI shall provide the services of Dr. Candice Hansen to participate as Deputy Principal Investigator on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) team.

Phase E Technical Elements of Work

Candice Hansen shall provide the following science support to the HiRISE PI and the Science Team as specified:
a) Maintain insight into all HiRISE activities, especially in the area of operations, in the role of Deputy PI.
b) As Science Theme Lead be responsible for planning, analyzing and reporting on HiRISE observations of seasonal processes on Mars. This includes specification of targets in the HiRISE data base, and prioritization of targets suggested by other members of the HiRISE team and the public.
c) Act as Co-I of the Pay Period (CIPP) up to 2 times per year to aid ops team with detailed planning of image acquisition.
d) Attend Science Team Meetings and bi-weekly telecons. The HiRISE science team meetings will typically occur one time per year.
e) Attend MRO Project Science Group meetings as requested by the PI. Typically PSG meetings are in Pasadena, CA.
f) Action Item Response. Respond to action items generated during science team meetings and telecons. Provide HiRISE PI with requested analysis, report, or other requested product within the time frame agreed to with the originator of the action item.
g) Special Studies and Analyses. Perform special studies and analyses as requested by the HiRISE PI.
h) Science Presentations and Papers. Prepare and present HiRISE results at science conferences and write papers for peer-reviewed scientific publications.
