Amateur Indian Astronomers Explore the Night Sky

throop observing
PSI Senior Scientist Henry Throop participated in and gave a lecture at an all-night star party in Neral, India. The event was organized by an amateur astronomy group Khagol Mandal, which translates to Cosmos Club. The program for the night included two night-sky tours, a few seminars, and many hours of dark-sky observing.
Above, Throop used a DSLR hooked to his 8-inch telescope with a 190-second exposure to capature this image of the Orion nebula. The Trapezium cluster is the four bright stars packed in right at the center.
