PSI Associate Research Scientist Liz Jensen participated in an event that encouraged middle school girls in the Houston area to pursue careers in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Jensen spoke on “Electrical Shocks and Magnetic Attraction” (link to talk slides below) at the Rice Reach for the Stars STEM Festival organized by the Rice Space Institute. Kids felt electrons flow by closing a circuit to a nine-volt battery with their tongue, as well as learning about magnetism and electromagnets.

Visit to see slides from Jensen’s “Electrical Shocks and Magnetic Attraction” presentation.
