PSI scientists Vishnu Reddy and Lucille Le Corre are collaborating with Phil Bland of Curtin University, Australia to set up a meteor camera network in the Tucson area. Bland has been running the Desert Fireball Network in Australia for several years and has successfully recovered a rare meteorite using pictures and video from the camera network.

The abundant clear weather and dark night sky in Southern Arizona are ideal for spotting meteors. The first camera, seen above, has been set up on the roof of their home in northwest Tucson. A second camera will go online just after the summer monsoon southwest of the city. Below, an image of the night sky by the Tucson rooftop camera.
