Following a 10-year journey, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta Spacecraft rendezvoused with and began to orbit Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P/CG).
PSI Researchers Robert W. Gaskell and Eric E. Palmer traveled to Marseille, France to build a shape model of the comet using images from Rosetta. Images of the two-lobed comet offer remarkable detail of its varied terrain.
In November Rosetta is scheduled to soft land an exploratory probe on the comets surface designed to ride along with the comet as it approaches and circles the Sun.
