On April 16-17, 2018 was the 2018 Asteroid Science Intersections with In-Space Mine Engineering meeting at the University of Luxembourg (above). This was the second meeting in the topic to address specific asteroid science needs of the asteroid mining companies. It is providing another anchor point in the science Roadmap of asteroid mining. The objectives of this conference was “To update the existing composition questions from the asteroid mining companies; and answer what is known and place scientific constraints.” PSI Senior Scientist Amara Graps (below) is the developer of the ASIME concept with feedback from the PSI scientists in 2015 and 2016 for how the asteroid science community can support the New Space realm of asteroid mining. For the ASIME 2018, Graps was leading the scientific organizing activities with Patrick Michel of Nice Observatory.
