Project Description
This funding supports spectral library development for the calibration of the VEM instrument on
VERITAS. Tasks include:
Source and obtain rocks for the calibration
Cost to cover fees to slab and prepare rock samples as 5-cm round chips
Preparation of leftover rock chips for geochemistry
Cost to cover analytical fees for obtaining geochemical analyses
Transport samples to Germany and coordinate acquisition of Venus-T emissivity spectra
while there.
Work with a data scientist Cai Ytsma (VERITAS science team collaborator) to analyze
spectral results using machine learning techniques
