Project Description

Co-I Catherine Weitz of the Planetary Science Institute will make measurements of grain properties to distinguish deposit origin and where varying properties reflect changing geomorphic thresholds, shifting depositional processes, and potential unconformities. Weitz builds on her successful characterization of surficial materials at the MER and MSL landing sites. Co-I Weitz has expertise utilizing HiRISE images, combined with CRISM interpretations of mineralogy, to map and analyze different sedimentary deposits on Mars, and will also contribute to the map interpretations at the Insight landing site.

Weitz anticipates service as Geo KOP, Geo STL, and/or SOWG DOC and similarly is willing and able to do whatever is necessary in order to ensure operations success.
