When people ask me what I want to do with my life, I tell them, “Every little kid wants to be an astronaut when they grow up – but I never outgrew it.”
My dream has always been to play a role in space exploration and be involved with NASA space missions. I believe humans have a natural desire to explore, and space offers many opportunities for exploration and learning.
I completed my undergraduate Studies at the Florida Institute of Technology and simultaneously completed two NASA internships at Kennedy Space Center while there. In 2010 I did an internship at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for 10 weeks before starting my graduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. I finished my Ph.D. in May 2015 and began work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences at Wash U and as an Associate Research Scientist with the Planetary Science Institute. In 2017 I was promoted to Research Scientist with PSI.
Apart from my normal research activities, I serve on the Next Generation Lunar Scientists and Engineers (NGLSE) leadership team and am a member of the executive committee for the Lunar Exploration Analysis Group (LEAG).
I am a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) advocate and NASA Student Ambassador - please contact me if you are interested in a speaking engagement regarding STEM outreach or the current/future vision of NASA.
