Project Description

Co-I Ghent is the lead for Theme III. Regolith Structure and Composition. She will bear overall responsibility for the tasks in this theme, and will actively participate in Tasks 1 (Modeling) and 3 (Field tests). She will coordinate the activities of all co-Is involved in Theme III activities, including dissemination of results via publications.

Co-I Matt Siegler will lead efforts in volatile stability modeling and detection. He will work with

Co-I’s (namely Schorghofer) to develop models of ice stability in lunar conditions and provide constraints that might be tested in Earth analog field studies. He will join the team for field work using instruments such as GPR and high frequency seismic to attempt to measure subsurface ice deposits in the field. He will aid in feeding these results forward to recommendations of future geophysics instrumentation that could be used for lunar volatile detection.

Co-I Norbert Schorghofer will conduct model calculations for ice stability on the Moon and terrestrial analog sites and participate in field work.
