Thunderstorms rolled in over Lakewood, Colorado on Aug. 9 when our colleagues at the PSI Colorado office were gearing up for their annual lunchtime picnic in the park, but inclement weather didn’t stop the celebration.

The team moved indoors, ordered a fajita buffet from their neighbors at José O’Shea’s, watched the Olympics and played mini table tennis, which Senior Scientist Amanda Hendrix donated to the office.

The annual picnic is a way to thank the interns, but is also held to bring together team members, said Associate Director and Senior Scientist Than Putzig, who also manages the PSI Colorado office.

“In addition to our six office staff, there are four others who live and work in the area, and this year we had a couple of visiting scientists join as well,” Putzig said. “Despite getting rained out of our usual picnic-in-the-park format, everyone seems to have had a good time at our in-office luncheon.”

In addition to Putzig and Hendrix, participants included Senior Scientists Oded Aharonson, Matt Chojnacki, Stuart Gilchrist and Isaac Smith, Senior Research Associate Fritz Foss, intern Bella Mueller, Research Scientist Matt Perry, Associate Research Scientist Lior Rubanenko, and Research Associates Aaron Russell and Megan Russell.
