"Terrestrial ages and infall rates of meteorites "

Tim Jull

Meteorites fall onto the surface of the Earth at the rate of some 40,000 tons/yr. The length of time they reside in a given environment depends on many factors. In arid climates, they can survive for tens or even hundreds of thousands of years. Dr. Jull will discuss how we can measure the "terrestrial age" of meteorites and what this and other information can tell us about the infall and survival of meteorites.
