"The new PSI Lab: A Central Resource for Research in Planetary Geology and Beyond"
The significant growth of PSI staff with research interests in the geology of Mars, and the move of the PSI Tucson office to a larger facility have resulted in the creation of a new laboratory space in the building for planetary image analysis, mapping, and remote sensing. This lab, under the direction of David Crown and Frank Chuang, houses an extensive collection of NASA mission data, spacecraft images, and US Geological Survey photomosaics and maps for the Moon, Mars, Venus, and outer planetary satellites, as well as remote sensing datasets for volcanic and arid regions of the Earth. The lab also includes computer resources for image processing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a series of peripheral devices for scanning and printing.
