How Distributed Computing will change the way Scientist manage Numerical Simulations in Planetary Science
Pasquale Tricarico
The never-ending need of computing power has played a fundamental role in the past, leading to the development of extremely fast CPUs, super-computers and clusters of computers. In the recent years, a new technology has been developed, leading to what we call Distributed Computing, with many important applications to Scientific Research and still an immense potential. We will describe what is Distributed Computing, how different research fields have exploited this technology, and how it will affect the future of Planetary Science research.
