Deborah Domingue Lorin

2010 Annual Research Report

Deborah Domingue Lorin's work on MESSENGER included: Continued analysis of data acquired during the MESSENGER flybys. Derived photometric corrections for the MDIS camera images and helped produce a global color mosaic. Helped to identify scattered light issues within the MDIS camera system Provided inputs into the orbital planning, especially regarding selection of targets and incorporating photometry observations for refined corrections.

Continued analysis of the MASCS data and helped identify radiometric calibration issues that need resolution prior to orbit insertion and the derivation of photometric corrections. Provided inputs into the orbital planning, especially regarding photometric observations for deriving unit specific photometric corrections.

She provided leadership on writing a team review paper on the space weathering of Mercury’s surface.

Planetary Mission Data Analysis Program: she was awarded a grant to analyze Galileo observations of Gaspra and Ida in order to refine photometric corrections to further enable color analyses. This work incorporates the shape models of these objects. I have begun coordinating efforts between myself and the Co-Is.
