Thea L. Canizo’s education and public outreach work includes NASA-supported projects in teacher 
professional development. Completed and current projects are a) Planets Are Places Too: Professional 
Development Workshops for Elementary and Middle School Teachers, funded by NASA 
EPO – Collaborative Education Proposal,  b)Workshops in Science Education and Resources (WISER): 
Planetary Perspectives, funded by NASA’s Opportunities in Education and Public Outreach for Earth and 
Space Science, and c) Laurel Clark Earth Camp Experience: Using NASA Data to Teach Teens, Teachers
and the Public about Planet Earth through Programs and Interactive Exhibitry, funded by NASA 
Competitive Program for Science Museums and Planetariums.
