Dr. Grier has been affiliated with PSI since 1999, where she carries the titles of both Research Scientist and Education Specialist. Having worked primarily in space science education for the past six years, Grier is not currently conducting active research in space science. But she remains attentive to her areas of interest, and continues to support panels, conferences and journals as needed in the areas of crater counting statistics, surface age determinations, crater chronologies, etc.
In 2007, Dr. Grier contributed to a wide variety of innovative programs and workshops in astronomy education, as well as being an active member of several professional society activities and working groups. This year she assisted the Space Telescope Science Institute's Origins Education Forum with teacher workshops at national conferences, reporting requirements for NASA as well as ASP and IAU publications. Dr. Grier was also the Acting Director for Education at the American Astronomical Society (AAS) while the current director was on sabbatical. This in addition to continuing to serve in her appointment as the AAS DPS Education Officer. She taught two courses in the fall of 2007, including "Understanding and Teaching the Universe" at John's Hopkins University through the Graduate and Professional Development Department, and a second course, "To the Moon" hosted on-line by Chuck Wood at Wheeling Jesuit University. These activities are in addition to ongoing work at PSI as a ROSES EPO lead with Pierazzo and Bleamaster for planetary related education and outreach projects.
In 2007, Asteroid Grier 7807 was named in her honor.
