Melissa Lane Discusses Future of Women in STEM

melissa and poster

PSI Senior Scientist Melissa Lane participated in a panel discussion following a performance of the off-Broadway play “They Promised Her the Moon: Breaking Ground While Reaching for the Stars” in New York.

The panel discussion was on the future of women in STEM and included “They Promised Her the Moon” Director Valentia Fratti and Nicole Valencia, co-founder of the Columbia University chapter of Girls Who Code.

The play was about Jerrie Cobb, one of the famed Mercury 13 astronauts, whose test scores surpassed many of the male astronauts during rigorous psychological and physical testing in the early days of the country's space program. Cobb was almost the first woman in space.

PSI Development Officer Dianne Janis attended the play and panel discussion.
