Observations of Comet Hyakutake

SPECIAL NOTE:
Clumps of condensated material separated from the comet nucleus
on March 24, 1996
at about 0 hrs UT. The Pic du Midi Observatory (France) recorded the event.
The following observations taken at The Vatican Observatory
(Mt. Graham, Arizona; 1.8 meter
VATT Telescope) are pre-separation (March 23, 12:30 UT) and
post-separation (March 25, 6:46 UT). These changes in the comet
nucleus/coma/tail are best examined in the false color images below:
