Research Interests

Dr. Jules Goldspiel's research interests focus on understanding the surface and subsurface fluvial history of Mars. This includes the identification and characterization of rivers, lakes and aquifers that may have been, or may still be, associated with surface features that show evidence of fluvial erosion and/or deposition.

Professional History

After obtaining his Ph.D. in Astronomy in 1994 from Cornell, Dr. Goldspiel has taught at the high school and college levels, and has also provided technical training to science and engineering professionals. Most recently he was the Head of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory’s Strategic Phenomena Section (SPS), which was in the Space Science Division, Upper Atmospheric Physics Branch.
