Canyoning in the Pinalenos

October, 2003 While climbing has been established here for a while, there is nearly no one in Southern Arizona going canyoning; than myself and a few others that I have come across.
Why? Not sure. It certainly is not because of a lack of canyons.
Below are images from another canyon in another mountain in Sth. AZ., supporting my suspicions that every mountain range here has something to offer. At higher elevations the canyon wentthrough some rocky ground meaning lots of boulder hopping andskirting around plenty of pools. Glad I brought the ropes for something. There is almost certainly other ways around without using the ropehere. Alarge part of the day was spent beating way down the creek. The empty space just ahead is a signthat something interesting is coming up. The first part of the descent of the main falls means droppinginto small dark, enclosed pool. Steve coming out into the main falls. Steve making his way down the face of the large waterfall. This is the canyon we spent all day descending.
