Western New Mexico Road Trip
New Year, 2005 There is a lot to be done (to graduate for example) so we just had a quick, simple trip these winter holidays. This time were went with the Milazzo's, who like ourselves are trying to complete a PhD and raise a new family simultaneously. They also have a new van which meant we could all pile into the same vehicle to travel. This was practical for a few reasons, particularly because the kids could be strapped in the back seat together where they could amuse each other. New Mexico is Arizona's eastern neighbour, and like Arizona has many rarely visited places. In this trip we got to have a quick sample of western part of the state.
Isn'tit terrible what we drag these kids through.
It was good to see that the kids got on well.
In the heart of the Gila Wildernessthere are some cliff dwellings.
One of the caves used by the cliffdwellers.
Bigtrees, little boy.
Thiswas the start of the interesting part of the canyon.
This is the narrow section of theCatwalk trail.
So many caves, so little time.
