Chiricahuas
August, 2003 On the last weekend of August, Yen and I (and Kiera) went camping with Scott, Melissa and Quinn. Quinn is just a few months older than Kiera, we actually all met at the child birth classes. The Chiricahuas are another 'sky island' in the SE corner of AZ, a corner that we still have not thoroughly explored. They are another retreat from the Arizona heat, mountains touching 9000 feet.
While it is always nice to get away for the weekend, my highlight for the trip was what happened to the tree... see the picture below.`
Kiera is playing with her boyfriend Quinn.
Thehighlight of the National Monument are the spectacular rockformations.
I sawthis as we were hiking along the Crest Trail along the Chiricahuas.
Some nice looking clouds we saw on theway back to Tucson.
Thisis the tree that was hit just as we set up camp.
Despite everything, we stayed out to camp anyway.
